The Ziro Festival of Music, held in the valley town of Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh since 2012 is one of the youngest music festivals in the country. It offers a great mix of the local scenery and the music from across the country. The festival not only attracts bands from the north-east but also metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The local Apatani tribe people provide their full support in setting up the temporary stages and stay for the artistes. The festival is held in September and is a ticketed event. The festival is an adventure in itself with the stay for visitors arranged in tents which have to be pre-booked. Visitors are also advised to carry sufficient clothing to escape the cold and protective gear against rain, which pays surprise visit once in a while. The nearest airfield is at Tezpur.
