National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN), funded by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications & IT, Govt of India is the world’s largest rural connectivity project that aims to link 60 crore rural citizens across 2.5 lakh village panchayats in the country through broadband optical fibre network. In its first phase the project is being implemented by three central PSUs – BSNL, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd and Railtel.
