Lightning Streaks Regiment (87 Armoured Regiment) of Indian Army organised the Conquest de Himalayas Cycling Expedition 2014 in which a team of 10 soldiers covered 682.6 km at altitudes ranging from 9,000 - 19,200 ft. Starting from Khangjakma at 5,855 m (19,200 ft) in North Sikkim, they reached Sukna in West Bengal in 20 days from June 30 - July 19, 2014. The expedition covered 10 Himalayan passes out of which only one is motorable. The expedition ran roughly along the River Teesta from its origin up to its entry into Bangladesh.
The team comprised Captain Navjot Thakur (team leader), Risaldar Sunder Swaroop, Lance Dafardar Manoj Kumar, Sowar Rajesh Katageri, Sowar Sunil Kumar, Sowar Agayapal Singh, Sowar Sohanveer Singh, Sowar Satya Prakash, Sowar Satish Kumar and Sowar Kumud Ranjan.
