India’s telecommunications system is the second largest in the world after China with both government and private operators offering telecom services. The country’s total telephone subscriber base grew to 99.86 crore by April 10, 2015, out of which 97.6 crore were mobile users. The overall tele-density (telephones per 100 people) stood at 79.3%. Wireless and broadband Internet continued to be the driving force behind this growth in telephony with the user base reaching 30 crore in March 2015. (Note: As per Govt reports)
