KU Varunny (b Nov 15, 1935) of Peringavu, Thrissur, Kerala, who already has nine patents in his name, developed and patented a new device that enables vehicle engines run at a constant speed resulting in reduction of vehicular air pollution by up to 75%. The concept is to keep the engine running constantly at its maximum torque level so that the best combustion efficiency is obtained. (The pollution level remains high when the engine runs in slow speed range). To adjust the output speed he uses a ‘Planetary gear train’ connected to the engine.
