Vinay Kumar 43, undergoing life imprisonment in Tihar Jail for the last 15 years has not only acquired seven certificates, diplomas and a degree in Social Work from IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) but has also been counselling on drug de-addiction in over 62 schools of Delhi, in parks, public places and hospitals with the support of 42 police SHOs (station house officers). He was the counselling Sewadar of the De-addiction Centre, Tihar Central Jail No. 3, from 2007 to 2011 and has received various letters of commendation from an MLA , the police commissioner and school principals. Though he is working out of jail, his aim is to work for a drugs-and-crime-free society.
