Gopal Vasudev Lele (b March 8, 1932) of Pune, Maharashtra is a man with enduring passion for trekking. At 81 years, he successfully made a week-long trek to Rupin Pass (4,680 m/15,350 ft) in Himachal Pradesh from Sept 21-28, 2013, staying in tents on snow and completing a 70 degree climb with temperatures as low as –5o C at the peak. He has completed 20 treks since 1972. These include treks to Kedarnath, Kailash, Kanchenjunga and Sangla.
