Inshore patrol vessel CGS Rani Durgavati joined the Coast Guard in Visakhapatnam on July 3, 2015. The ship, named after the legendary Gond queen who defeated the army of Baz Bahadur, has been built by Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. Built in consultation with Australia’s Thorny Craft and the Coast Guard Refit and Production Team, the ship can touch 34 knots. The Indian Coast Guard is now the fourth largest in the world with 118 ships, 63 aircraft and over 10,000 personnel.
