Kamal Sadan Harimohanan is an award-winning mridangam artiste from Kannur, Kerala and has been performing across the country since 1995. He also contributes time to research and innovations in the performance of mridangam and has developed a complicated taal with 13½ beats which he has named Sivapalathalam, after his father Nandan Sivapalan, a kathakali and Bharatanatyam artiste.This has been endorsed by some of the maestros of the music fraternity as a new innovation in Carnatic music. Harimohanan now holds workshop explaining the intricacies of the taal system and spread knowledge about the 13½ beat play.
