Dr Pradeep Chowbey (Padmashri) is the Executive Vice-Chairman – Max Healthcare Institute Ltd., Chairman – Surgery & Allied Surgical Specialities and Chairman– Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MAMBS) at Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi (India). He is Honorary Surgeon to the President of India & Armed Forces Medical Services and Surgeon to His Holiness Dalai Lama. He has served four Presidents as Honorary Surgeon. He is Surgeon to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He, in association with his team performed more than 68,000 major minimal access surgeries between 1992-2015.
Under the Chairmanship of Dr Chowbey, the Max Institute of MAMBS has been accredited as the First International Centre of Excellence in 3 Specialities i.e. Bariatric Surgery, Hernia Surgery and Gynaecology Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), USA in India and Asia-pacific region.
He was the President of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) in the years 2012 - 2013 and also the President of its Asia Pacific Chapter (2011-2013). He is the Founder President of Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS) established in 2004. He is the Board member of Gasless Laparoscopic & Endoscopic Surgeons Society, International (GasLESS) since 1997. He is a Founding designee in the International Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery Program by Surgical Review Corporation, USA in 2011.
