Pankaj Parakh, a Nashik-based businessman and corporator of Yeloa Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra, made himself a gold shirt worth Rs 1.3 crore to celebrate his 45th birthday on August 8, 2014. He wore it for a darshan at Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. The 4 kg shirt made of 18-22 carat gold was designed in Nashik and crafted by jewellers in Mumbai. It took 20 artisans 3,200 hr in over two months to stitch it together. The shirt has an inner lining to prevent chafing.
