The Cochin Refineries (CR) School run by Bharat Petroleum Company Ltd-Kochi Refinery (BPCL-KR), the oldest CBSE school here established in 1966 at Ernakulam, Kerala, celebrated its golden jubilee on 11 August 2016. As part of the Parents–Teachers Association celebrations on 11 February 2017, the school organized a unique lamp-lighting event at its ground Oval in Ambalamugal. From 6.45 pm to 7.10 pm, 15,525 earthen lamps were lit by 220 persons – students, alumnus, teachers, retired teachers, staff, parents and Board members. With the CR School logo in the centre, the rays emanating from the diyas all around was a beautiful sight. The light from the lamps aligned with the symbolism of the sneha deepam, underlining the thought behind the CR School motto – ‘That they may be refined and radiate’.
