Mahalaxmi Kamalakar Wankhedhar (b March 23, 1965) of Mumbai specialises in 3D paper art, birds in particular. In this art form, 1 inch of paper gets cut into almost 100 strands with minute precision and detailing to make them look like original feathers. Average time taken for a piece of art: 1-3 months. Starting on Dec 9, 2009, she completed 25 artworks by June 30, 2015. Some of the birds are Greater Bird of Paradise, Blue Bird of Paradise, Himalayan Monal, Kingfisher, Nicobar Pigeon, Flamingo etc. While the smallest artwork is 8 x10 cm, the largest is 70 x 120 cm.
