Normally all schools observe a Merit Day where toppers and others are given awards for topping in a subject or being a ‘good citizen’ or for full attendance. In 2010, Holy Trinity Anglo-Indian School in Thevalakkara, Kerala started a unique tradition of conferring students with a Merit Day certificate and a glittering crown in order to motivate them to be achievers. During the Merit Day observed on Nov 7-8, 2014, the school felicitated 1,491 students – 475 on the first day and 1,016 on the second.
