K Paul Sudhir (b Jan 25, 1969) of Hyderabad who has been using a jugular catheter since Nov 25, 2010, has been undergoing dialysis at Apollo Hospital – Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad for the past 13 years! Due to the long dialysis treatment, the dialysis axis of both his hands (AV fistula axis systems) had failed totally. So doctors attached a catheter to the right inner jugular vein at the neck to do the dialysis. This dialysis axis is usually a temporary axis recommended only for 4-6 weeks, but in Sudhir’s case the catheter has been in use for the past four years without a single instance of infection. He has been treated by Dr M Soma Sekhar, Sr Consultant and HOD (Dept of Nephrology).
