The Adventure Nodal Centre of Central Air Command, India Air Force in Allahabad, UP organised the Powered Hang Glider Expedition 2014, in which two gliders took off from Allahabad on Nov 6, 2014 and covered 1,367 km across six Air Force stations – Allahabad, Kanpur, Gwalior, Gorakhpur, Bihta and Darbhanga – making it the longest such formation flight. Sgt Moti Lal Yadav captained one glider with Wg Cdr Anil Kumar Tiwari as co-pilot while Sgt Ram Mehar captained the other with Corp Navin Kumar as co-pilot.
Longest flight at a stretch: During the expedition, the two gliders covered 380 km without refueling from Gwalior to Allahabad in 4 hr on Nov 10, 2014.
