Randhir Singh Shyokand of Jaganpur, Kaithal, Haryana harvested a 160 cm (5 ft 3 in) long bottle gourd from his farm and displayed it at the Agri Leadership Summit held at Gurgaon, Haryana in March 13-16, 2015. Some of his giant crops in the past include a bulb of garlic weighing 700 g, a 48.3 cm (19 in) long bitter gourd, a 48.3 cm (19 in) colocasia (arbi), a turnip of 5 kg, a 3 kg yam and a 40.6 cm (16 in) long French bean. Having worked with agricultural scientists specialised in organic farming, he has evolved a method for himself. Before sowing the seeds, he treats the field with a special mixture made of neem leaves, mango leaves, red chillies and compost.
