The Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) inaugurated 500 Legal Literacy Clubs in 500 schools of the State on 10 Dec 2016 at Mandar, Ranchi, Jharkhand. The Legal Literacy clubs, aimed at spreading legal awareness in remote tribal villages, enrol about 25 students from Class 9. Fortnightly classes are conducted by serving and retired judicial officers. The focus is on laws and welfare schemes related to women, children, labourers and the marginalized. Booklets, reading material and posters are distributed by JHALSA.
