Asha Bhonsle is the most recorded artiste in the history of music. Having begun her career in 1948 with the Hindi film Chunariya, she had recorded 11,000 solo, duet and chorus songs by 2011. In a career spanning more than six decades, she has sung in over 20 Indian and foreign languages. She received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. She is also the first Indian singer to be nominated for the Grammy Awards.
