The first train was flagged off on 16 April 1853 from Bori Bunder (now Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) in Mumbai, Maharasthra. The station is one of the busiest railway stations in India, and the only one declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building with a Victorian Gothic style of architecture, was designed and constructed by Axel Herman and Frederick William Stevens in 1888.
