Resul Pokutty is the first Asian to win the 63rd American Motion Picture Sound Editor's Golden Reel Award for the best sound for the documentary India's Daughter. A sound designer, editor and mixer who works in Hollywood and Indian cinema, he also won the Academy Award (Oscar) in 2009 for best sound mixing for the movie Slumdog Millionaire, along with Richard Pryke and Ian Tapp. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010 and the National Film Award for best audiography in 2010.
