India introduced its first aromatic stamp, a Rs 15 stamp fragrant with the scent of sandalwood, in 2006. On 23 April 2017, the then Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman, and minister of state for communications, Manoj Sinha, released coffee-scented postage stamps at the General Post Office in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
