Krishna Kumar Agrawal of Jaipur, Rajasthan has the largest collection of cacti and succulents in the country and is recognised as one of the best in the world. He has lithops which come from the Mesembryanthemum family of succulents which are difficult to grow because of the harsh summers when temperatures touch 48oC. However, carefully studying their resting cycle he was able to grow them. Each variety has been given a name so that new ones are added to his list every year.
Agrawal, a life member of the Cactus and Succulents Society of India, grows the lithops from seeds and is constantly scanning the internet to get the latest variety of seeds from across the world. The colourful lithops are artistic creations with multiple markings on them. As his lithops started multiplying, some of them had 100 heads. Photographing of his lithops is another passion.
