Under its flagship project ‘Promote Education - Ek kadam ujjwal bhavishya ki aur’, Umang Foundation, Mumbai with the help of 375 volunteers distributed stationery kits to 12,586 financially weak students from 53 schools ranging from Pre-primary (Balwadi) to Std X in Ullhasnagar, Thane, Maharashtra from 7.45 am to 5.00 pm on June 27, 2015. Each kit contained a slate, a long book, notebooks, pencil, pen, eraser, sharpener, scale, exam pad, pencil box, lunch box, water bottle, colouring book, multi-activity book, drawing book, set of crayons, compass, mathematical instruments and a pack of biscuits to munch. Umang Foundation, a public charitable trust started by three IT professionals – Ashish Goyal, Akshay Shah and Deena Sawlani – in July 2008, has provided educational material to 50,000+ less fortunate children since inception. Ashish Goyal is the Managing Trustee of Umang Foundation.
