Saumya Pandya Thakkar (b Jan 23, 1987) of Ahmedabad, Gujarat created the largest aqua shadow painting by combining a few chemicals and thus creating a transparent liquid that she applied on transparent fibre glass. The painting is not easily visible clearly as it has water like transparent effects, but when put under spot lights, a huge, clear shadow of up to 30 ft becomes visible. The image she first created was that of Ahmedabad’s famous monument Siddi Saiyad Ni Jali. It took around 2 days to paint and 2 days to dry the liquid of the artwork. It was exhibited at Gate-6, Kankaria Lake, Maninagar, Ahmedabad with the help of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The subject of the shadow painting was World Heritage Day - June 5, 2015 and the theme - Raise your voice not the sea level.
