GVK EMRI (Emergency Management and Research Institute) handles medical, police and fire emergencies through the 108 Emergency Service. It is a free 24×7 service delivered through call response centres and over 9,473 ambulances across 15 states and two Union Territories, serving over 23,312 emergencies per day. It provides emergency help to save a life, to report a crime in progress or to report a fire in an average 18 minutes. EMRI first started 108 emergency response services in Andhra Pradesh with a fleet of 70 ambulances on August 15, 2005. The emergency calls are received at a single response centre based in Hyderabad. GVK EMRI has a state-of-the-art Emergency Medicine Learning Centre (EMLC) creating skilled manpower in the form of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Pilots.
