Indians won six Grand Slam titles in 2015, a record in Indian tennis history. Veteran Leander Paes had a haul of three Grand Slam mixed doubles crowns, the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open playing with the same partner Martina Hingis (Swiss). Leander’s Grand Slam tally reached 17 with nine mixed doubles and eight doubles. Sania Mirza followed with two women’s doubles titles, Wimbledon and the US Open. Her partner in both the cases was again the Swiss legend Martina Hingis. Sania so far has won five Grand Slam titles including three mixed doubles and two doubles. India’s sixth Grand Slam title came through a German-born Indian boy Sumit Nagal. He and Vietnam’s NH Ly lifted the junior boy’s doubles crown at Wimbledon.
