Pais Friends Library in Dombivli, Thane, Maharashtra had the highest number of new-member registrations – 1,021 – at its six branches between 6.45 am and 11.00 pm on Jan 1, 2015. The library started by Pundalik Pai on May 22, 1986, has over 30,000 members with about 6,000 active members. With a total of 1,78,937 books, about 800-1,000 members visit the branches every day.
