Wearing a prosthetic leg, Aditya Mehta (b May 21, 1982) of Hyderabad undertook an arduous cycling expedition from Manali to Khardung la, becoming the first amputee to accomplish it. He started the 515 km ride from Manali, Himachal Pradesh on August 1, 2014 and reached Khardung la (18,379 ft) on August 15, 2014. The total riding time was 10 days with 4 days spent for acclimatisation.
