Commander Dilip Donde of the Indian Navy successfully completed a solo circumnavigation of the globe in 276 days. He covered 21,600 nautical miles sailing in the seas in INSV Mhadei, the 56 ft-long sailboat fitted with hightech navigation and communication equipment. He had embarked on the voyage on19 August 2009. On his return, he was accorded a ceremonious welcome as his sailboat touched base at Sunk Rock Light House at Mumbai harbour on 22 May 2010.

The expedition was part of the Navy’s ‘Sagar Parikrama’ project.
