Around 110 Gupta-era pieces of art, collected from 17 museums around the country, formed the exhibition on ‘The Golden Age of Classical India, Gupta Empire’ from the beginning of 4 April to 25 June 2007 at the Grand Palais in Paris. The idea, which was first proposed by the then French President Jacques Chirac in 1998, was part of France’s celebration of 2007 as the year of Indian culture, coordinated by the National Museum in Delhi.
