First-Indian-contingent-in-Russia.jpg

A contingent of about 70 soldiers from different units of the Grenadier Regiment, participating in the Victory Day Parade commemorating Russia’s triumph in World War II, marched through Moscow on May 9, 2015. The Indian contingent was led by Capt Vikash Singh Suhag and the tricolour was held aloft by Capt DP Singh. Col Digvijay Singh was the chief coordinator. Their ceremonial uniform included a safa or headdress. The Grenadiers are selected for, among other things, their height. Most of them are around 6 ft tall.
