The first HAL Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) was handed over to the IAF in Bengaluru on Jan 17, 2015.The single-seat, single-jet light fighter, developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is the second supersonic fighter developed by HAL after the HAL HF 24 Marut. A tailless aircraft, it is planned to replace the MiG21 fleet. Tejas has a pure double delta wing configuration, a single dorsal fin, a fly-by-wire control system, integrated digital avionics system, composite material structures and a flat rated engine. The smallest and lightest aircraft in its class, it is highly manoeuvrable.
