India Post started the online sale of philatelic products through its own e-post office and through Snapdeal on August 29, 2014 and sold products worth Rs5.5 lakh in a month. A pilot programme was also started in collaboration with Snapdeal to facilitate sale of products created by the artisans of Varanasi. 
An android mobile application was launched to provide better service to consumers on May 11, 2015. The mobile app, Postinfo, developed by Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT) currently provides facilities like tracking, post office search, postage and insurance premium calculator and interest rates.
