Bringing crime -writers, authors and publishers under one umbrella, the first Crime Writers Festival was held at India Habitat Centre, Delhi on Jan 17 and 18, 2015. An initiative of the Crime Writer’s Forum of South Asia, the festival, presented by Hindustan Times, was produced by Siyahi. Namita Gokhale and Lady Kishwar Desai were the Festival Directors. Alka Pande was the Creative Director with Ashwin Sanghi and Priti Paul on the Advisory Board. Powered by ID (Investigation Discovery) a Hindi investigation channel, workshops were held at the Oxford Bookstore, Connaught Place, New Delhi. Noted crime and thriller writers from France, India, Norway, Sweden and UK had come together to examine the art of crime writing and to see how it influences society. Some of the speakers who participated were Ashwin Sanghi, Caryl Ferey, David Stuart Davies, Dibakar Banerjee, Hakan Nesser, Julien Vedrenne, Lady Kishwar Desai, Lord Meghnad Desai, Mukul Deva, Neeraj Pandey, Nils Nordberg, Tarquin Hall and Zac O’Yeah.
