A three-year course of Bachelor of Science (Community Health) for persons in rural areas commenced in July 2015 in four states: Jharkhand, Assam, Chhattisgarh and MP. Students are trained to be mid-level health professionals and competent to conduct normal deliveries, pre-and anti-natal care, handling diarrhea, pneumonia, vaccination, providing tuberculosis treatment and treatment of fevers and skin infections. This course can create a cadre of healthcare professionals who can be the first point of contact for rural patients.
