As part of Project Udaan, launched in Jammu & Kashmir in 2012, the Army is helping Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to recruit youth from the State to work in different parts of India. Educated youth in the insurgency-hit State cannot be reached by TCS so, the Army held a telephonic interview with candidates from Badami Bagh Cantonment, Srinagar. It gives youth from the interiors of Kashmir a fair job opportunity. The Army conducts background checks on the candidates. In 2014, TCS could reach youth in 19 districts of Jammu & Kashmir including insurgency-beleaguered areas. Under the agreement TCS signed with National Skill Development Corporation, TCS is to train and employ 850 youth from the State, of which 527 have already been trained.
