To create awareness about faulty CFL bulbs which leave huge mercury footprints on the soil and damage the environment, Enactus NPTI (National Power Training Institute), Delhi collected 2,093 faulty or spent CFL bulbs from 1,300 households of Shalimar Bagh, Delhi in a day on June 26, 2015. Under a social outreach project titled PrajwalDiwas, 26 young volunteers collected the CFLs for Enactus NPTI to scientifically repair and recycle. The underprivileged CFL collectors are trained to repair the faulty bulbs and resell them making them micro electricians. Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs), schools, religious places, shops and restaurants also extended their support to the project.
