Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) Pvt. Limited has won the Bureaucracy Today CSR Excellence Award 2017 for training 50,000 women across the country to become economically independent. The award was presented for the category of women empowerment.

The women have been trained and educated in farming methods like Ultra High Density Plantation (UHDP), digital literacy, basic IT, personality development and job readiness. UHDP is a path-breaking farming technique that Coca-Cola has been propagating to drive the fruit circular economy in India.

 The award was presented in Delhi by Director General of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Bhaskar Chatterjee, in the presence of celebrities, opinion makers and leaders from India Inc.

HCCB has been working with partners like NIIT Foundation, Jain Irrigation and AA Edutech among several others who have supported this endeavour. HCCB also engages with Self Help Groups (SHGs) who come together for a collective decision of starting a small-scale business by generation of funds through mutual savings.

 Accepting the award, Umesh Malik, Vice President, Public Affairs, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, said, “Our goal is to align our business interests to the wellbeing of the communities where we operate.
