3 kids and a full-time job! Companies like Coca-Cola actually make it possible.

 “Twins!” the doctor happily announced. 

My initial reaction went from “wow” to “how” – how was I going to deliver twins and a full time job where I handled 5 business units and 50 countries? If that wasn’t enough, I already had my hands full with a teen. Would I end up being one of those women who’d built herself a successful career only to lose it because she had to raise a family!

Fortunately, I was working with Coca-Cola India. The company values talent and recognises that employees, especially women, need the space to integrate their work and career goals with their personal responsibilities. They gave me flexi hours and when I was prescribed bedrest during my last trimester, I could even work from home. The support I received from my colleagues and superiors was unimaginable. Just being comfortable and stress-free helped me work efficiently and deliver to deadlines. 

For most of us, the hours or the hard work are never the issue. We just want to be able to seamlessly integrate our two important phases – career and home – and this company makes it easy. It was great to see that when I returned to my workplace, Coca-Cola encouraged me to take on more challenging roles. To me this is true women empowerment! Many companies only talk about it but Coca-Cola actually puts it in practise. 

I’ve been back at work for a while now and it’s like I never went away. If every company was like Coca-Cola, imagine the unlimited possibilities working moms would have to grow.
