  • 4 schools have been revitalized in and around Jaipur as part of SMS last year; 55 schools have been revitalized in Rajasthan as part of SMS till date

Coca-Cola’s Support My School (SMS) campaign, an initiative to build Happy, Healthy and Active Schools for students in rural and semi-urban areas, today dedicated 800th improved school infrastructure to the community at Government Sanskrit School, Triveni Nagar, Rajasthan. Round Table India (RTI), an implementing partner of Coca-Cola India for SMS initiative, worked on the ground to help revitalize facilities. Shri Ashok Lahoti, Mayor- Jaipur attended dedication ceremony at the school as the chief guest. The SMS program, which is closely aligned to the government’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign, has helped in the advancement of the school infrastructure which includes separate toilets for boys and girls, access to clean water and better sanitation, library and playground.

The attendees during the ceremony included Chandra Mohan Gupta, Director - Corporate Affairs, Coca-Cola India & South West Asia, Ravi Utmani, Chairman, Jaipur Pinkcity Round Table 171, and Deepak Bhansali, Area XII Chairman.

“Children are the change agents for tomorrow. It is therefore important that they get access to quality education and essential amenities like toilets, access to water and basic infrastructure in their schools. This encourages more and more students to come to schools regularly especially girl children. I am thankful to Coca-Cola India for their commendable SMS initiative which helps furthering our education mission and also contributes extensively to ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission,” said Shri Ashok Lahoti, Mayor- Jaipur.

Ravi Utmani, Chairman, Jaipur Pinkcity Round Table 171 added, “Partnering with Coca-Cola India has been a great experience. With our collaborative efforts through SMS, we are striving to bring about a positive change in the lives of more than 1300 children from 4 government schools in Rajasthan. Our initiatives specifically emphasize on provisioning of sanitation facilities, access to water and sports as key areas of intervention.”

SMS campaign in the last 6 years has had more than 50 partners in more than 20 states across India. We have been able to positively impact more than 2 lakh children and we are hopeful of revitalizing 1000 schools within this year.”

SMS is a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiative that aims to improve basic amenities in government schools like separate toilets for boys and girls and access to water. The Schools revitalized under the campaign have served as model schools in several districts and have led to enhanced community engagement and higher emphasis on attendance and enrolment. SMS is on track on its journey of touching 1000 schools by 2017 under the initiative.

As part of SMS campaign, 55 schools have been revitalized in Rajasthan along with different implementing partners, including RTI, till date which is positively impacting more than 13000 students. 


 About Support My School Campaign:

Coca-Cola India & NDTV launched Support My School in association with the UN-Habitat, Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) in 2011. It undertakes the following activities:

  • Provision of improved access to water
  • Appropriate sanitation facility for girls and boys
  • Improvement in the overall school infrastructure and environment
  • Provision for sports and recreational facilities and
  • Recharging groundwater through rainwater harvesting

With such necessary amenities in place, schools are able to provide a cleaner and healthier environment more conducive to learning.
