Launches 2014 Malayalam Edition, felicitates Kerala’s Women Achievers
2014 edition dedicated to theme of ‘Empowering Women’.
As a part of the book launch, Dr. Tessy Thomas, K S Chithra, Anju Bobby George, Dr. Sunitha Krishnan and Rear Admiral Nirmala Kannan felicitated for their remarkable achievements.
The 2014 Record Book features over 10,000 awe-inspiring feats, of which 6,000 are new records achieved by Indians.

Kochi, May 20, 2014: Coca-Cola India today celebrated the silver jubilee of the Limca Book of Records by dedicating the 25th edition to the cause of ‘Empowering Women’. The 2014 Malayalam edition was launched as part of a special cultural programme organized at the Gokulam Convention Center, Park Hotel. Dedicated to some of the country’s most extraordinary women icons, the 2014 Record Book, aptly themed ‘Empowering Women’, felicitated and recognized some of Kerala’s most inspiring and iconic women achievers from Kerala.
The launch event also marked the presence of Mrs. Vijaya Ghose, Editor, Limca Book of Records, Mr. Deepak Jolly, VP – Public Affairs & Communications,
Speaking at the launch event, Chief Guest, Dr. Tessy Thomas said, “I congratulate Limca Book of Records for completing 25 years of showcasing India’s best talent and achievements. The Record Book’s journey over the last 25 years is somewhat a reflection of our country’s socio-economic, political and cultural evolution. And it is befitting that the Record Book is celebrating its Silver jubilee by paying a tribute to women achievers who have inspired millions and played a crucial role in making a positive difference to society with their sheer resilience, power and determination. I feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment as we celebrate and honour some of the country’s most iconic women who have done the country proud.”
The launch event was embellished with a series of dance performances. This included an enchanting Thiruvathira dance performance by Malathi G Menon’s students, a Kathakali dance performance by Art of Living Foundation (Kerala chapter) and lastly a gripping Kalaripayattu performance by women. A packed audience of more than 250 people regaled at each of these performances.
With 20 refreshing and informative chapters, the 2014 edition of the Record Book chronicles/ houses over 10,000 remarkable achievements, of which 6,000 are new records, all showcasing extraordinary feats of Indians across the globe.

When the first book got released in 1990, it was one of the biggest achievements in my life. Seeing my hard work all in print, gave me an immense amount of satisfaction and delight. From then on there has been no looking back. Today, in its twenty-fifth edition, I am proud to say that the book has continued to serve as one of the best platforms for Indians to showcase some exceptional and awe-inspiring records. In this edition, Limca Book of Records salutes the women achievers who have succeeded in their chosen field of work, thus continuing its endeavor of encouraging talent and honoring achievements par excellence. As a pre-cursor to the launch of 2014 Malayalam edition of the Record Book, Limca Book of Records also organized a special panel discussion based on the topic “Equality for women is progress for all”. Dr. Tessy Thomas – The first woman scientist to head a missile project in India. Project Director for Defense Research and Development Organization’s Agni-IV missile and the 5,000 km range Agni-V. Recipient of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for outstanding contribution to make India self-reliant in the field of missile technology.
K.S Chithra – well known singer, recipient of six National Film Awards (the most by any female singer), five Filmfare Awards and more than thirty different state film awards.
Anju Bobby George – First Indian athlete ever to win a medal in a World Championship in Long Jump.. Recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and the Padma Shri.
Dr. Sunitha Krishnan – Human rights activist and the founder of Prajwala, a pioneering anti-trafficking organization.
Rear Admiral, Dr. Nirmala Kannan – One of the few woman officers to have made it to the rank of Rear Admiral in the Navy and the first woman officer in the Indian Armed Forces to graduate from the National Defense College, New Delhi.
