Brindavan Bottlers Pvt. Ltd. celebrated World Environment Day in Barabanki with awareness generation activities focusing on PET recycling

Activity part of Coca-Cola India’s nationwide celebrations to mark the day
Barabanki, 5th June 2014: Brindavan Bottlers Pvt. Ltd, Coca-Cola India’s bottling arm in Uttar Pradesh, celebrated World Environment Day with employees and the community of Brabanki with focus on PET recycling. As part of the celebration, employees participated in awareness generation and training for the collection and recycling of PET bottles.
Present at the event were Ashok Kumar Tiwari, Regional Officer, UPPCB and Namdev Khatri, Manager Legal, Brindavan Bottlers Pvt. Ltd.
Speaking about the celebrations, Namdev Khatri, Manager Legal, Brindavan Bottlers Pvt. Ltd. said, “For any company, its operations and growth are largely interconnected to the community it operates in. With this vision in mind, we are constantly working with our partners to create more sustainable business models. This World Environment Day, we are taking to the streets to create awareness on and promote recycling of PET bottles. We are working with the local communities to ensure sustainable collection and recycling of PET bottles in the area.”
Appreciating the efforts undertaken for the initiative, Ashok Kumar Tiwari, Regional Officer, UPPCB said, “It is great to see the effort being put in by Brindavan Bottlers towards supporting PET recycling in the area. Protecting the environment and inculcating a spirit of responsibility is a collective effort. Every step goes a long way towards the cause.”
Over the years, Coca-Cola India has been working with its bottling partners across the country to promote environmental awareness and conservation through several projects. The company’s efforts on this path include installation of 300 “eKOcool” solar coolers till now in areas with relentless power shortage, a new technology called “eutectic” solar coolers for areas with less severe power shortage and commitments towards carbon emission reduction.
