Siliguri, September 4, 2017: In the lead up to the first-ever FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 to be hosted by India, Coca-Cola today, after facilitating an extended Trophy experience in Kolkata earlier, provided an opportunity to the passionate football fans in Siliguri to experience the iconic FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 Winner’s Trophy. This was for the first-time ever that the FIFA U-17 trophy was displayed in Siliguri, a city known for its love of football. The Trophy was displayed at Spencer’s in City Centre Mall where football fans also got a chance to participate in various engagement activities and took memorable pictures with the Trophy.
Prior to the trophy experience, Coca-Cola had launched activation programs to engage the sport lovers in Siliguri. On-the-go canters toured the cities many days ahead of the Trophy experience and promoted football. They engaged with consumers by offering them a chance to win “cut-the-queue” cards that allowed them to get easy access to the iconic Trophy by skipping the queues.
Javier Ceppi, Tournament Director of the Local Organising Committee for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017, said on association, “Coca-Cola is a key partner within global football and for the development of the sport in India, which is primed to become the biggest in the country in the long run. Coca-Cola has been associated with us throughout this process and the company’s support is extremely important to achieve our goals.”
Ecstatic on witnessing the Trophy from such close quarters, Mr. Pradip Pandey, Zonal Vice President, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd said, “When the world’s most popular sport teams up with the world’s most popular beverage, it creates magic. We consider it our privilege that we were able to provide the experience of a lifetime to the football lovers in Siliguri. More importantly, I am hoping that along with FIFA we have been able to add an additional layer to the strong sporting legacy of the city.”
After inspiring the football fans in Siliguri, the Trophy tour is scheduled for the next city, Mumbai, on September 13th and takes the Trophy closer to many more football fans.
