Ahmedabad, 28th December, 2013: India’s leading musicians and singers, Ram Sampath, Sona Mohapatra, Samantha Edwards and Sonu Kakkar got together last evening and got a crowd over 10,000 at IIM Ahmedabad’s annual cultural festival – CHAOS – to savour the signature fusion music of Coke Studio@MTV. This marked the maiden, LIVE performance of Coke Studio in the city, leaving music lovers asking for more of the impeccable musical renditions by the eclectic artists from Coke Studio@MTV.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Mayank Arora, Zonal VP, Hindustan Coca-Cola beverages Pvt. Ltd, said, “Coke Studio is a unique fusion of varied musical genres, languages, artists and sounds. It is a celebration of music which has successfully opened happiness across the country and united a phenomenal set of musicians from diverse backgrounds. Launched in India in 2011 by Coca-Cola India in association with MTV, Coke Studio@MTV,is a first of its kind music project in India which brings together diverse artists of different genres to create an extraordinary series of medley, giving music lovers across the country a unique opportunity to enjoy Coke Studio’s signature fusion music. Coke Studio@MTV Season 3 continues to celebrate the glory of incredible musicians who represent the best that the country has to offer.

Since its launch in 2011 the fusion music project has brought together some of the country’s best talent in contemporary and traditional music and has garnered huge support from the public as well as the music fraternity.

According to Ram Sampath,“When I first spoke to the MTV & Coke team about the concept of my episode , DEVI , I had specific genres of eclectic music with specific singers celebrating different forms of feminine energies, I expected them to end the meeting politely & avoid meeting me for the rest of their lives . Instead I got an enthusiastic Okay , which really surprised & heartened me. For me , the platform ‘Coke Studio At MTV’ is about connecting the past with the future & I have truly enjoyed painting a canvas with sounds & tunes with some fabulous world class singers & musicians”.
