 Abdul Samad (b Nov 27, 1989) from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh who is deaf and dumb has competed in national championships along with normal participants in 10 hockey nationals – six senior national hockey championships and four junior nationals since 2002- 2016 and the team won eight winner trophies, two runner-up trophies. Samad is a goalkeeper and is nicknamed the ‘Iqbal of Bhopal. He has won three best player awards and five best goalkeeper awards at national level tournaments.
