 The Durand Football Tournament is the third oldest tournament in the World and the oldest in Asia and India. The tournament was started by Sir Henry Mortimer Durand in 1888 for the British troops stationed in India and was held in Shimla. After Independence it was revived in 1950 and was held in Delhi. In 2014 the tournaments were shifted to Goa for a year. The 128th tournament was held in Delhi again from August 28 – Sept 11, 2016. Twelve teams participated in this tournament which were held at the Ambedkar and Harbaksh Singh stadiums.
