Kumaran M (b March 2, 1981) of Chennai has completed standup paddleboarding (SUP) on 19 different waterbodies, including 17 in India and one each in Sri Lanka and Malaysia, as of June 30, 2016. It was part of a mission to understand the ecosystem of different waterbodies and to promote paddleboarding. Starting with a survey on Great Salt Lake backwaters near Chennai on April 5, 2015, he has undertaken 58 SUP trips covering a total paddle distance of 484  km. Kumaran also achieved the longest standup paddling (SUP) feat by covering 31 km on River Godavari, from Pattiseema to Iskcon temple in Rajamundhry, Andhra Pradesh in 3 hr during the 2016 monsoon season (July 3).
