The Indian Army conducted the longest camel safari in the Thar Desert area of Bikaner in Rajasthan from March 11-20, 2016. The expedition team comprising officers, junior commissioned officers and 20 soldiers covered 200 km in 10 days. They also traversed 10 border towns. The team also organised free medical camps for villagers. The purpose of the expedition was to promote the spirit of adventure among Army personnel as well as showcase Army as a way of life to locals.
