 Indian Navy vessel Mhadei which set sail from Visakhapatnam on Feb 9, 2016 and reached its home port in Goa via Chennai and Kochi on March 2 was skippered by an all-woman crew for the first time on a long trip. The five-member crew comprised skipper Lt Cdr Vartika Joshi, Lieutenants P Swathi, Pratibha Jamwal, Vijaya Devi and Sub-lieutenant Payal Gupta. The sail boat also took part in the International Fleet Review at Visakhapatnam. Earlier, the women officers had manned the boat on a 40-mile trip from Goa to Karwar in December 2015.
